“Every human
must decide whether he or she will walk in the light of creative altruism or in
the darkness of destructive selfishness.” ~ quote inspired by Martin Luther
King, Jr.
When there are two Full Moons in the same calendar month,
the second is called a ‘Blue Moon’. This Full ‘Blue Moon’ in dramatic Leo, on January
31st, is also a ‘Super Moon’, which happens when the Moon is closest
to the Earth as Luna culminates (making this the second and last Super Moon of 2018).
As a Super Moon* it also means tides will be strong again, with flooding,
earthquakes and tsunami alerts all possible. Perhaps even more so in some
areas**, as this second January Full Moon is also a spectacular Lunar Eclipse. And
because it is also a total Lunar Eclipse – when the eclipsed Moon turns a light-refracting
deep copper-red – it is therefore known
as a ‘Blood Moon’. Excited yet? It’s a humdinger!
Also, a ‘Blue Blood Eclipse’ suggests a certain kind of majestic Royalty. And this lunar eclipse is compounded by the fact this is a Full Moon in regal Leo! Even so, I am not going to give a critique of world leaders or Monarchs; though heaven knows many could do with a serious astro-restyle. No, this astro report is tailored towards the personal aspect of Leo, to encourage every one of you to be aware of yourself in the world, celebrating unique talents and gifts, and to joyfully partake with dignity and creative style, and the loving, caring, big-hearted kind of stage presence that emanates from Leo the Lion, and that we would also like to witness from those in positions of power. Let’s not forget how Leo is a stately and self-confident sign that leads by example, not by threat, force or fear. Even in danger, one roar from the Lion is usually enough to pacify enemies.

Leo is a fun-loving and playful sign, so this Full Moon is
celestially marked to be theatrical AND mythic, with the three phenomena – a
Blue Blood Super Moon Eclipse, all taking place at the same time. Apparently,
the likes of which haven’t been seen for 150 years! To make matters even more
poignant, it is also the last Full Moon of the elemental Fire Bird Year, as a
Valentine New Moon Solar Eclipse on the 15th Feb signals another
serious turning point; and is the start of the potentially more stabilising
Earth Dog year. More on that in a moment.
First, let’s concentrate upon this powerful Super Moon
Blue Blood Leo Lunar Eclipse, and the aspects it makes:
☆ A loose but fixed ‘T-Square’, featuring the altruistic Aquarian Sun opposite a spirited Leo Moon. Both Lights form a hard 90 ° aspect to expansive Jupiter, which is currently in transformative Scorpio (where is stays until early November). T-Squares are aspects that are always loaded with tension; but this combination suggests a creative tension that has the potential to lead to sudden breakthroughs.

In the days surrounding this Full Moon, I heartily
recommend you hold a creative vision firmly in mind, one that will be nurtured
with love and originality. Define what it is that you want to manifest. Imagine
how that might be achieved; i.e. what kind of help will you need; who is going
to be on your team; which course of action brings out the best in people: and
what can you do if confronted with delay? Give yourself and others some head
space to see the bigger-picture and assess how to flow with change and
inspiration as it arrives.
Tuning into powerful truths could easily lead to
spectacular productivity and possibly even some kind of spiritual rebirth
(which may be more apparent when the Sun exactly squares Jupiter, at the last
quarter Moon Feb 6/7th).
☆ With the Moon making a quincunx 150° to visionary Neptune at 12 Pisces, adjustments to the creative vision will need to be made. Watch out though: a Leo Moon can bring out the cry baby if things don’t go all one’s own way. Other people’s needs must also be considered when tweaking the dream.

Take note: with this cool and friendly Aquarian Sun
opposite such a strong Leo Lunar influence, coming from a place of mindfulness,
integrity and loving kindness, stimulates an inner-knowing – as well as loyalty
from those who matter.
There is also an unexpected healing to be found by
associating with kindred spirits. And the support of others fosters a self-assurance
that also helps to relieve oneself of burdens and blocks that could have held
you back from igniting the spark of creative genius.
☆ At the precise moment of Luna’s
culmination, the Moon exactly conjuncts dwarf planet, Ceres, also at 11° Leo.
Ceres is the ‘Goddess of the Harvest’. She accents the ability to nurture and care,
from inception to maturity, by gently guiding growth into wholesome beauty; more
specifically Ceres denotes the connection between a Mother and child; particularly
the relationship of mother and the young daughter coming into her own unique beauty
and sexual awakening. Ceres is the protective Earth Mother who tends to the
younger’s personal needs, feeding with good intentions, fending off predators
as best she can. And all goes well unless she gets taken advantage of, or
something precious is snatched away or stolen, then it can get very messy
indeed – until said object is returned, then there a certain rebirth takes
place. This influence of Ceres conjunct the eclipsed Blue Blood Super Moon
opposite the sparkling Aquarian Sun can be taken literally or symbolically, in
as much as our own internal ‘care-taker’ can fine tune the ability to look
after and tend new shoots of personal creativity. Whenever Ceres is present
with ‘The Lights‘, (Sun and Moon) issues of fallowness, abandonment or loss
could also surface, as Ceres is also the Goddess of grieving. If that is the
case, be patient and go easy on yourself. Whatever is being tended, Ceres shows
us that there is a time and season for everything, from new shoots to
blossoming and sustaining, passing and rejuvenation.
☆ Eclipses are POWERFUL! An eclipse season is not to be taken lightly! All kinds of unseen energy can arise to create excitement and commotion, as well as dramatic turning points. As such, I advise you to psychically, emotionally (and even physically) protect oneself, so that when the cosmic portals open wide between the Dragon’s Head (North Node with the Moon) and the Dragons’ Tail (South Node with the Sun, Venus, Hygeia & Juno) one can remain safely centred in the heart mind, even in the midst of drama.

☆ Be aware of this potent celestial force for the next few weeks during
eclipse season. The Solar Eclipse is 15th Feb, and the build-up to
the union of Sun and Moon is also exacerbated by a critical period in the
Tibetan Calendar (which I use in conjunction with the Julian Calendar), called Dön Season”, which
has been described as being ‘like Mercury retrograde on steroids’, as the karma
of the last Elemental year (fire) accumulates to possibly manifest as sticky
issues that can create obstacles, problems and disharmony.
As we wave goodbye to the spiritually attuned Fire element (for another ten years) and before welcoming two years of practical Earth’s steadiness and strength, Dön is the name given to summarise an end-of-years’ amassed energy patterns, particularly the negative ones which whip-up destructive thinking to provoke difficult interactions and arguments that, if we don’t clarify with mindfulness, can even lead to emotional obsessions, or psychic or physical sickness. Thus, during these coming weeks, between the Lunar Super Moon, and particularly the week in the run-up to the Aquarian Solar eclipse (from Feb 7th -15th), it is mega important that we clear the air and make space at home, at work, in relationship, and within our minds in order to awaken and release our creative Spirit. While we make make hay during the wild Lunar eclipse, a few days after it will be of great advantage to detox inner planes as well as outer worlds, to let-go of the old and outmoded and, by being open-minded and aware, prepare for New Year of the Earth Dog 15th February.

Happy Blue Blood Super Moon Eclipse! Until we meet again in the New
Elemental Year of the Earth Dog: Peace out!
