Healing Equinox ~> 2012 Autumn Dragon

As our world turns, the Solar year experiences two equinoxes, marked by equal-day and equal-night, at Spring and Autumn. Each has a distinct signature: Autumn inclines towards the cocooned dark restful night, while Spring dynamically moves headlong into the light.

Tomorrow, 22nd September, at 15:50 BST , 7:50 AM PST, we reach Autumn Equinox, the point of Earth’s yearly solar cycle when light and dark exchange dominant directions, and dark nights extend into the northern he

misphere; while the light of life gets ready to spring into action in the south.

This point of balance and change heralds the ingress of the Sun into a leading cardinal sign Libra - the sign where karmic Saturn is currently exalted at anaretic 29degree, making it oh-so imperative to stay centred in heart-mind.

Concerned with peace, love and unity, Libra’s planet is Venus (now in fiery Leo) and the scales’ element is intellectual ‘Air’, which is yang in energy; this combination is generally quite fast-moving and brisk.

The weekend also see’s a 1st quarter Medicine Buddha Tara Moon, giving this Autumn equinox a lovely, quick-healing boost; before we know it there will be a massive Full Harvest Moon in only a week’s time :)

Perfect Virgo New Moon ~ September 2012

According to Buddhist philosophy, we come into this world with innate goodness, called ‘Buddha Nature’. Though inherent purity can become corrupt through circumstance, causes and conditions - karma, choices and influences, beyond innumerable layers of dense conditioning, which there is in most everyone, a pristine consciousness can be reawakened, always with awareness and sometimes with effort.

The perfection we strive to attain is therefore already within – it is just a (small!) matter of realisation. This perfect wisdom can be astrologically represented by the constellation Virgo, the flawlessly accomplished and learned Goddess, who gives herself unconditionally to humanity, in a life of practical service.

Over this weekend, both Spirit Sun and sensitive Moon conjoin in smart, practical Virgo, to renew and energise the healing power of (and for) the Divine Feminine within everyone. We all have a feminine side, from where wisdom and intuition stem (the right side of the brain). Virgo is also mindful of body and soul. Astrological Association Conference September 2012

A note for anyone interested in coming to the Astrological Association of Great Britain's 2012 conference this coming weekend ~ September 7-8-9 in Cambridge, here is the link to the program.

Divine Blue Pisces Moon ~ August 30th 2012

A rare Blue moon this Friday is in Pisces, the sign of the super sensitiive fishes, at 13:01 British Summer Time, (the next isn't until July 2015), when an 8 degrees Pisces Moon unites with spiritual Neptune, Shamanic Chiron & body-conscious asteroid, Hygeia, for added healing bliss, magic and wonder.

combine the feminine elements Earth & Water, giving this enchanted Full Moon an emphasis upon yielding yin, gentle and caring like the spiritual wise-woman.

Action & Reaction ~> Two Grand Crosses + Cardinal + Mutable

Rather unusually, there are TWO GRAND CROSSes in the sky at the same time this week! The 'Cardinal Grand Cross of the Central Spiritual Sun' is the power-house that galvanizes into action tomorrow, Monday 20th August, when the sensitive Moon moves into harmonious Libra (to oppose Uranus and Square Venus and Pluto); to accent the awareness of renewal and transformation.

This kind of formation has the celestial hallmarks which also herald pronounced solar activity – including an active sextile from Spirit Sun to fiery Mars, and that can certainly whip UP the dynamism.

A Cardinal Cross is energetic and forceful, urging one to shift and quickly move (hopefully into a positive direction) with all kinds of important issues: self in relationship, to family, partnerships, groups AND profession. Staying centred could be a challenge especially as the Sun is currently involved in a 'Mutable Grand Cross', which gains strength as it approaches its' opposition to dreamy Neptune and squares the destiny-fulfilling nodes (24thAugust); Events this week will eventually point a way to practical and spiritual service, through being able to empathise and generate compassion. With today's last quarter moon, a Tara or Medicine Buddha practice (or indeed any kind of meditation practice) to overcome obstacles and banish negativity, the insight gleaned can have far reaching results. This is because both lights, Sun and Moon, are at home and exalted, respectively. Spirit Sun in his Leo domain encourages a positive focus upon self, while the sensitive Moon in Taurus nurtures, in a very real and caring manner.

With helpful feedback from personal meditative awareness, one can release any sense of worthlessness, to be ready for a confident and generous heart to shine with a new Leo moon on the 17th August.

Mars conjunct Saturn ~> 15th August 2012 ~> The Unshakable

Lammas Full Moon in Aquarius ~ August 2012

A fantastic Lammas full Moon is on the rise to be exact Wednesday night/Thursday morning, 4:27 British Summer Time, at 10 Degrees of Leo and Aquarius, when the light of a confident and radiant Leo Sun is brilliantly reflected by the group-orientated Aquarius Moon.

This dynamic, fun, and positively glorious celestial connection awakens a generous heart and altruistic intention in a lightening fla sh. Celebrating an extra special Guru Rinpoche day, Saturday 28th July, and rejoicing the birth of Tibet’s lotus-born ‘Second Buddha’, Padmasambhava, is symbolic of venerating all our spiritual teachers.

The golden Leo Sun, self-confident, generous and regal, makes a helpful trine aspect to the responsive Moon in far-sighted Sagittarius (sign of a wise teacher); these two also form a union with the destiny-fulfilling North-Node, creating a very exciting ‘Grand Fire Trine’ with altruistic Uranus (and strategic Pallas Athena) in assertive Aries, so all three fire signs positively constellate to rouse creativity.

New Moon in Cancer ~ July 2012

In the Buddhist tradition, due to countless rebirths, we view all beings as having been our protective gentle mother, someone who has unconditionally taken care of us as best she could. Even if you don’t take on board the concept of reincarnation, this kind of thinking is helpful when dealing with difficult or frustrating situations or relationships (even if with one’s own mother in this lifetime). When we recall our Mother’s sympathy and kind-heartedness as we were growing-up, it becomes easier to generate the wish to repay such benevolence, by developing compassion, patience and love towards others.

I mention this now before a new moon at 26 Cancer (5:23am British summer time, 19th July) which highlights past memories, as well as emotional sensitivity and family connections, be it immediate or global family, as Cancer is ruled by the moon, doubling the intensity of any sentiment.

This new moon, hot on the heels of yesterday’s powerful ‘Cardinal Cross of the Central Spiritual Sun’, provides intuitive strength and determination to square-up to and act upon what may appear to be hard and difficult issues (especially during a Mercury retrograde); while the Cancerian influence also reminds us to watch hasty moves and show care to self and others, just as a Mother would her child.

Guru Purnima ~ Full Capricorn Moon July 2012

Tonight’s full Capricorn Moon (July 3rd) suggests we are all, somehow, in the midst of change. For some the changes are sudden and dramatic, for others it is incredibly subtle, but powerful nonetheless.

Whatever events currently occupy body, speech or mind, during this full Moon (over the next few days), instinct deepens and intuition heightened, stimulating solar plexus and crown chakra so individual self can align with a DIVINE purpose_(♥)_

This is Guru Purnima, the Full Moon in which we honour the Divine Guru (within) _(♥)_

Love Goddess Venus completes her epic cosmic dance _/\_♥

Many relationships will now feel renewed, deepened or released, so that compassion and kindness can blossom and bloom. This is the sum effect of the recently dramatic retrograde of the Venus transit to our heart star, the Sun, as Venus is now stationed to go forward and complete her cosmic dance at 7 Gemini on Wednesday. Look to this point in your ‘scope to see where in the sphere of life communicating from the heart-mind has taken unprecedented importance, and where learning to unconditionally love oneself is based on informed truth, a radiant kind-of consciousness, not ego. This amazing once-in-a-lifetime retrograde, as the Love Goddess aligned with Spirit Sun, together they showed how to connect in love, with beauty, to one’s self, to others, and the community at large. Now all we have to do is to add Jupiter’s ability to expand our understanding of love (July 14th- 24th) and all that we treasure, and encourage the generous heart-mind to grow and be positive in everyday relations.

Developing the celestial theme of unconditional love to also emphasise the need for balance, peace and harmony, in all circumstance, is the heaven's taskmaster Saturn (who has also just turned direct, exhalted in Libra), joined by the sensitive Libra Moon, just as Venus turns direct! Venus is therefore extremely influential, as she is the planet to rule the sign Libra. Generally speaking, when the Moon conjuncts Saturn, the reality check can seem like a day or two of harsh karmic lessons. But the more effort we consciously make to remain centred and listen to the heart, the less likely we are to be knocked off balance, but instead retain self-esteem and self-worth.

The kindest we can be, instead of passing Saturnian judgement or creating more obstacles, is to realise that time is often needed to get things (relationship/job/finances) just right and that, as long as our desires do not harm anyone, living in pleasure and love, we are all a ‘work in progress’.

Heart Star Solstice June 2012

Time now to tune into the unconditional warmth and clear light of heaven's inner radiance, feed the Spirit, and and shine like the Sun _(♥)_.•✩¨¯☼:) Our Heart Star, the Sun, is at standstill, and the cosmic wheel of light is poised to turn. Whichever part of the world you are, in the north where summer Sun is high, or south where winter Sun is low, Solstice marks a change of direction, and is when clans traditionally gather to affirm heartfelt connections.

This Solstice Sun makes a magical trine aspect to both manifesting Saturn and spiriutal Neptune, helping one to realise dreams, as well as stabilise meditation practice.

A new moon commenced just before Solstice and upon reflection, it ended what was a most memorable month with eclipses and the Venus transit, which events in our life surely mirror.

♥ Venus governs Libra, where Saturn is exalted. Saturn has been retrograde throughout the period, for the past four months, working on the heart and learning to love from the wisdom gained from life’s harder lessons. Saturn is soon to be going forward on Tuesday 26th, after Solstice, a New Moon and Venus also slowing down to station and  go forward on the 28th June. Hooray :) ♥

Centred at the heart and in relationship, a Libran Saturn at station to go forward is a very powerful ‘station’, in as much as it has the potential to hone-in upon karmic core-issues and go forward in peace, love and unity. Check 22 degrees Libra in your chart and see where you are currently showing considerable discipline by learning to love .  And check 7 degrees Gemini as to where self-love and self-appreciation has been processed.

Before the 26th, however, we encounter the first of SEVEN Uranus Pluto squares on June 24th. Having its roots in the 60's, this association between Uranus and Pluto is now at the opening square of potentially progressive, individually and collectively, ground-breaking innovation. Think back to the idealistic flower-power of the 60's, during the time of free-spirits, women's liberation, and the birth of the computer. Back then we also realised how Earth (her flora and fauna and humanity) needs healing. This is not an easy transit, but one of a series of sudden transformations that require co-operation and helpful forward-thinking from all sides, from those in authority as well as you and me, especially if we are to transform the currently destructive unequal power structures. There is also another cycle to consider: the Saturn Pluto conjunction in Libra which began in the early 80's; at its most exalted expression fairness in control is the only way to maintain balance, peace, and unity.

Saka Dawa Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Gemini ~> June 2012

Full Moon full moon lunar eclipse is a big day for Tibetan Buddhists, marking SAGA DAWA, the day we celebrate the birth, enlightenment and parinirvana of Sakyamuni Gothama Buddha ♥_/|\_ ૐ

This eclipse sees the Moon at 14 Sagittarius aligning with the ‘Great Attractor’, opening a portal for the mind-stream in truth to attract, imbibe and embody the sacred heart of the cosmos. For the meditator this is an optimum opportunity for impartial observation of all sensation (internal-external, yin-yang, sun-moon) harmonising earthly heart-mind with an illuminating awakened spirit.

Be extra attentive to the subtle body, with chakras and channels super sensitive during this opening of space time: Because of the dramatic changes taking place (within & without), eclipses can be an integral (and sometimes the backdoor) passage for spiritual evolution. On a relative level we often witness watersheds and transformational situations during eclipse season, especially if the degree of the eclipse constellates our own horoscope. Gemini Solar Eclipse ~> Breathing into Being

Sensitivity and quick reaction accompany the cosmic interplay between Sun, Moon & Earth, intensifies this weekend with a Gemini Solar Eclipse 20th/21st May (00:47bst on the 21st). Eclipses mark dramatic shifts, both within one's personal life, and without, as in the world around. And in Gemini, any change tends to be fast.

Get ready to touch base with magnificent and magnified shining Buddha nature, as the year’s biggest supermoon is on the rise! And in the radiant light of this brilliant Full Scorpio Moon, Buddhists across Asia also celebrate ‘Vesak’, or ‘Buddha Purnima’ as it is called in India, commemorating the birth, death and paranirvana of Shakyamuni Buddha.

When Lord Buddha was born 2500+ years ago, as the son of a King, an astrologer predicted Prince Gothama Siddhartha would achieve great powers: if Siddhartha followed a spiritual path, he would become an enlightened saint or, if he followed his regal father into the world of materialistic desire, he would be a renowned ruler. Practical Taurus Sun exemplifies a grounded spirit; opposite an alchemical Scorpio Moon, personal sensitivity is profoundly transformational. Both Sun and Moon now at 16 degrees also make good aspects to other planets. Cultivate a Wealth of Virtue ♥ Taurus New Moon ♥

New Moons are times of new beginnings. In abundant earthy Taurus, sign of food, flowers and finance, seeds of the new are planted to grow in the garden, as well as in the sensuous wilds of true Taurean treasure: the kind and loving heart-mind. The Taurean Bull highlights what we value, be that a thing, person, place or song.

Buddha was a Taurus. The following lines sum up his teachings:

We have the opportunity to tame the mind - and more, with the Taurus New Moon @8:18BST, where the Moon is exalted, as it constellates a very practical ‘Earth Trine’, a triangle formation with active Mars in healing Virgo, and transformational Pluto in powerful Capricorn. This useful ‘Earth Trine’ remains in stabilising effect for twelve more days. We need this celestial steadiness because Mars remains at early degrees Virgo in opposition to the ‘wounded-water’ configuration that is Neptune and Chiron (still in effect two years since the Deepwater Horizon accident in the Gulf of Mexico – not to mention Fukishima). And although Mars is the high-flying point of the ‘Earth Trine’ which becomes the tail of a rare ‘Earth-Water Kite’ formation – which is a wonderful opportunity to fix damaged power structures, mend broken hearts, and have deep psychological/emotional breakthrough – it might be so wonderful that we take for granted any boon, bountiful shooting stars, or stroke of genius we have or encounter, that we easily ignore the cosmic help now on offer. So be aware or you might blink and miss it and get stuck with Mars in his other tight aspect: still at ‘the bends’, being in direct ‘T’ square to destiny’s nodal axis. In fact, warrior Mars is dealing with this fast blast of karma, which requires constant readjustment throughout most of the lunation, until after Wesek, at the last quarter Moon around May 13th. To be honest, Mars in this position is not my favourite; situations can get heated for no reason other than ignorance.

Venus is often the only planet that can seduce a listless Mars. As Love Goddess Venus is the Taurean ruler, now in smooth-talking Gemini, (where she will soon perform an amazing celestial dance (more on this to come)) harmonious relations entail entering into dialogue to understand others' point of view To do so means one is truly on the dharma path, well on the way to the equipoise that cultivates a wealth of virtue, awakening the heart chakra and taming the anxious mind though love-wisdom and compassion _(♥)_

Love ♥☼♥ Light Libra Full SuperMoon ~> April 2012

Full Libra SuperMoon on the rise, to be exact Friday at 20:19 BST (NY 03:19pm (EDT); Delhi Saturday 7th 00:42 am (IST)), with Sun at 17 Aries radiating fire and assertion and the light of light itself, opposite the loving and sweetly pushy Libra; this one is all about you and me, baby!  

How we relate to others, either in business or love comes into focus - and possibly to a head. With sensitive Moon next to swami Saturn, and in a dramatic Thor’s Hammer formation with Neptune and Venus, self-initiated karma can make one feel alone, even in intimate partnership. This is good – and all part of the cosmic plan, which is to help one understand that even in relationship if we are not responsible for our own actions, who or what else is? 

The nature of LOVE is blissful, light and free; so why be weighted down by emotional drama?

Aries directness opposite balancing Libra stimulates Divine love to emanate from the heart, for this full ‘Pink Moon’ reminds us how loving kindness frees us from the ego shackles of self-centredness, paving the way for harmonious connection, be that with a friend, enemy or stranger.

The ‘Mutable Cross’ mentioned in a previous post continues to hold sway, but with a slight change of cast on the cosmic stage. We still have retrograde Mars in Virgo, about to go station direct on the 14^th April (movement in the right direction at last!), opposite the ongoing Neptune-Chiron conjunction, accenting exactly where deep emotional healing is required (check for 3 degrees Virgo-Pisces in your scope); this opposition is in square to Love Goddess Venus in versatile Gemini (where she goes retrograde for 40 days and 40 nights in May-June), now conjunct the South Node (Dragon's tail) she is opposite the Juno-North Node conjunction, to form a Goddess dominated Fire-Air axis of this changeable Cross.  Experiences absorbed and imbibed during this Mutable Cross help one to remain true to goals - especially with Juno conjunct the Dragon's head, to act and react during time of fast-moving change in a manner that raises both consciousness AND planetary awareness. 

One last note about this Full Moon is that it is the first of three super moons in a row. The supermoon (a phrase coined by the amazing Richard Nolle) is when the Full (or new) Moon is closest to the earth. We normally experience more geomagnetic action and see more storms both on earth and at sea during super powerful moons. So take good care everyone. Mercury Retrograde in Aries ~> 12th March 2012

Strength often shines through in the most extraordinary circumstances during hard times. It’s as though the will to act and create comes directly from the source. In astrology we look to Aries for such bravery and the cosmic urge that powers and propels.

We are now in the run-up to Spring Equinox, at 0 degrees Aries; and Mercury, planet of the mind, went retrograde yesterday (12th March) in the sign of the Warrior. At the solar marker of equal-day equal-night Mercury will conjoin the Equinox Sun. Mercury rules the mind, and Aries individual assertion. In the coming weeks impetus and volition are subject to razor-sharp analysis - with potentially brilliant insight.

Note that throughout this retrograde period, when Mercury even leaves the sign of the Ram and goes back into Pisces (March 24th), to contemplate the end of certain matters, Mercury’s dominant healing challenge is actually in relation to the group-oriented Uranus, planet of dramatic change as well as humanitarian altruism. Both planets are airy and intellectual, combining to initiate unusual change, making contact three times. The first was only a few days ago (on 5th March); the second conjunction is on the 18th March, just before equinox; and again a month later on the 22nd April.

From the point of view of esoteric astrology this is an important series of conjunctions. Mercury is the esoteric ruler of Aries, suggesting the hot-headed Ram needs to be smart to make right action; and Uranus is the hierarchical ruler of Aries, accenting how one distinctively operates within the crowd. Recognising the value of each unique individual's heroic contribution in the process of collective evolution is the optimum way to ensure all talents are bravely actualised and accomplished.

Also worth baring in mind is that the Aries Mercury and Virgo Mars are not only both retrograde, but they are currently in 'mutual reception', i.e. Mars rules Aries and Mercury rules Virgo; so that the hero's 'right action' and 'right understanding' work well together, particularly with self-introspection. Mercury goes forward on the 4th April. And Mars goes forward on the 14th April; until which date we are advised to exercise patience and not be too rash or aggressive - in Buddhist thinking this is actually a good reminder that anger wipes out karmic merit in one fell swoop.

Yet with a still-in-aspect Sun~Mars opposition, stories of war oppress: I was wondering: does human blood's iron-count go up when testosterone-driven Mars is closer to the Earth, and associated with the Sun? (As it is right now, retrograde in Virgo and in opposition to the Sun.) I can't find anything on the net (so far) along these lines? Not sure if it were a dream I had that Japanese scientists were analysing blood iron ratio to Mars perihelion in the 90’s. I wish there were research grants for ideas like this – maybe there is - somewhere? If not, there ought to be.

Spirit Sun opposes dynamic Mars during today’s Guru Rinpoche day, the first in our year of the inscrutable Dragon; and the currently perceptive Moon conjoins active Mars in a few days time for the Losar Full Moon ‘Day of Miracles’ on the 8th March (International Woman’s day!). The inspired Pisces Sun encourages spiritual service, showing compassion and kindness to all beings, while a retrograde Mars in Virgo can get ultra-critical, stuck in the discerning search for personal perfection. Though a helpful and rather auspicious trine formation between today’s Pisces Sun and the receptive Moon, now at home in super-sensitive Cancer, suggests applying skilful means – patience, insight and analytical reasoning quickly clears thinking clouded by unrelated feelings, to tell the difference between illusion and delusion. Although we’ve been asked not to celebrate Losar this year, and to remain in prayer for those who are in Tibet, I still want to bubble up through the Piscean Dragon water and say please do enJOY the spiritual offerings and essential greatness this combination of planets symbolises. 

Essentially there are a great many pointers that indicate that now is the time think in longer cycles, not just where we are in relation to the East’s Black Water Dragon, who is active, passionate and extremely perceptive for a whole solar year; but also our Western Oceanic Neptune is now at home in imaginative Pisces for the next 14 years; and this new way of collective sensing even reverberates with yesterday’s MahaShivratri, the Hindu festival when Shiva dances his creative-destructive cosmic dance, at the same time he saves humanity by drinking the poison which comes about from churning-up the milky universe; this rather selfless and compassionate, Dzogchen action perfectly aligns with current planetary aspirations to save or be rescued.  

With so many planets resonnanting together in the sign of samsara and nirvana, hope and hopelessness, victims and martyrs - especially those who suffer for their spiritual faith - I am also saying a prayer for all those in Tibet – including the Chinese. This currently horrific wave of violence and self-immolation or reactive crackdown is tragic for all concerned.  Yet while both cultures have much in common - and there has to be a 'middle way', I also feel incredibly helpless, as totalitarian commercialism marches upon all indigenous and shamanic beings who live in close harmony to the land and the elements, all over the world.  It is not just Tibet where 'tribals' and 'communities' are threatened and often sacrificed in the name of power. Still, it is still interesting how Tibet and China do share certain development (Much like the English and Irish, i.e. similar, but not quite.). In the calendar there are often have different starting dates for new elemental years. China, and a most of Asia, always celebrate on the Aquarius New Moon. The energy of which indicates an intellectual cool and detached approach to humanity (which also resonates with China’s Moon sign). The Tibetan year shifts between Aquarius, and where it is found more often, in devoted and spiritual Pisces. Maybe this says something about the general population themselves? All food for thought - especially if we consider the difference of being Jupiter ruled, or Saturn ruled, as is New Year for most of the world. 

This year's Losar Pisces Black Water Dragon Neptune Moon is a serious reminder us that our global theme of the moment is the state of our WATER.  To be in the flow: of water, of communication, cash, and cosmic biocognative energy is what the coming decade is all about. Good to note that Pisces's traditional ruler is Jupiter, modern ruler is Neptune, and esoteric ruler is Pluto; in this order it suggests that in the past we grew, at present we dissolve into divinty, and deep down, within the shared psyche, we powerfully transform – a process that takes generations to complete; but once it happens as a race we evolve to become more compassionate and caring, as indicated by the highest vibration of this end of zodiac sign. That’s the theory anyway. We may actually keep on swimming in our own nonsense forevermore, which would also be quite in keeping with Pisces/Neptune & the 12^th House – otherwise known as the Celestial Dustbin, as dear Liz Green calls it!

Love Heals ♥ ~> Last Quarter ♥ Valentine ♥ Scorpio Moon ♥

A Last Quarter Valentine Scorpio Moon on Tuesday ♥ Feb 14^th has the power to help to overcome obstacles and heal the heart and Spirit of all kinds of relationships, be that with yourself, your family, your friends, colleagues or co-workers, as well as the treasured Valentine heart.

With Spirit Sun in eccentric Aquarius, in a closing square to the extremely perceptive Scorpio Moon, the lights accent the profoundly therapeutic qualities of Medicine Buddha as well as Goddess Tara’s enlightened activity. Both signs, Aquarius & Scorpio, are fixed and fearless. Aquarius is cold sharp Air, and Scorpio the inexhaustible well of Water; together they produce instinctive intelligence, combining intellect and sensitivity to delve into deep and delicate issues with an air of cool detachment, yet still emotionally engaged.  This, in my opinion, is a most shamanic Sun-Moon combination.  Not only are we one week away from Losar, the Tibetan New year, but one must also bare in mind how the Moon is also hierarchical ruler of Aquarius, suggesting that only when everyone’s needs are met does humanity evolve.  

So we say goodbye to the Rabbit Year, and before the New Water Dragon begins this Mysterious Scorpio Moon could takes us into very dark spaces and places, just as the non-conformist Aquarius Sun provides a fluorescent electric zapper that twinkles and illuminates, especially tantalising within the hypnotic shadows.
