☼ “Dön Season” ~> before Losar & the New Year of the Green Yin Wood Goat

No sooner has informative Mercury gone direct (today at 1 degree Aquarius), the Last Quarter Tara Moon of the Wood Horse Year signals we are well and truly into a critical period of the Tibetan calendar called “Dön Season”, which has been described as being ‘like Mercury retrograde on steroids’, as the karma of the last year now accumulates to potentially manifest as sticky issues that can create obstacles, problems and disharmony. 

Dön is the name given to the end-of-years’ amassed energy patterns, particularly the negative ones which whip-up destructive thinking to provoke difficult interactions and arguments that, if we don’t clarify with mindfulness, can even lead to emotional obsessions, or psychic or physical sickness. Thus, it is now super important that over the next few days we clear the air and make space, at home, at work, in relationship, and on the meditation cushion, in order to awaken Spirit and transform the mind. Detox inner planes as well as outer worlds now, and let-go of the old and outmoded and, by being open-minded and aware, prepare for New Year of the Green Yin Wood Goat on the 18th–19th February, a year that offers an exhilarating kind of joy, with the potential for great peace.   

During these next few days of the “Dön Season” just before Losar, Tibetan New Year, we call upon our protectors, connect to sangha, and loved ones who give love and support. It may also be a cosmic co-incidence that Valentine's Day is also Dakini Day, but when the Goddess highlights Love, she does so this year with the radiant LoveLight which emanates straight from the Galactic heart.

ॐ Scorpio Dakini Moon ~ January 15th/16th 2015

_/♥\_This Capricorn lunation’s 'Dakini Day', when Spirit Sun makes the last major aspect in the form of the Sextile to the powerful Scorpio Moon, the (tantric) path of transform beckons as the means to liberation. When the waning Scorpio Dakini Moon conjuncts weighty but beauitful Saturn, planet of responsibility and discipline, this direction’s challenges are real and solid (relatively speaking ;) ). Confronting long-held fears can now bring certain karma to an end. Whether the karma ripening now is from this life’s causes and conditions may remain to be seen; there are many celestial factors currently at play which accent the realisation of the results of dedicated perseverance. Indeed, spiritual accomplishment can take many lifetimes. And as TimeLord Saturn in Sagittarius currently has the last say in present aspects - by way of planetary disposition - there’s reason to be optimistic about any work being achieved right now. □ Sun in Aquarius ~ ☉♒□☽♏ ~ Last Quarter Moon in Scorpio - Jan 2014

Coming to the end of the year of the Black Water Snake - a year of profound insight and powerful emotions - tonight's Last Quarter Moon presents the opportunity to transform during ‘a crisis of conscience’ (because this is a time when principles are called into focus). Now is therefore time to clear and prepare for the oncoming and exciting Aquarian New Moon and the New Chinese Year of the Green Wood Horse Thursday the 30th January. (Note this year that Losar, Tibetan New Year, is a month later, March 2nd). The energy surrounding the Wood Horse is markedly different to the water bound Snake; the Horse is dynamic, quick and active, willing to shoot the breeze and grow and move in exciting places and spaces. So best be prepared to ride the new WindHorse-power. Remove hindrance and overcome obstacles by being cooperative and concentrated (even with self), utilising the clarity of the altruistic and friendly Aquarian Sun, in combination with the insightful (and often secretive) magnetic Scorpio Moon.

This arrangement of Sun and Moon tends to give the Spiritual Warrior shamanic healing abilities, by testing the ability to remain emotionally detached - yet profoundly engaged in the process of healing issues of trust, abuse and power. The challenge is to use such perceptive awareness wisely, so that all beings are happy.

✴️ Behind closed doors at the Dark Moon in Scorpio ☾♏ Nov'13

Retrograde Mercury, planet of the mind, and karmic Saturn in Scorpio are enhancing the power of deep introspection; for Scorpio is secretive sign, with the need for privacy when delving into interior of one’s heart-mind; it is often behind closed doors that the most powerful transformations take place.

With the dark moon also going into Scorpio today, there’s already a growing sense of tomorrow’s oncoming Scorpio New Moon Solar Eclipse 3rd November (12:48pmGMT), when we welcome the newly risen Phoenix that rises from the Sun’s ‘Fiery Path’. And as we approach the cosmic union of Sun, Moon and Earth in heavenly alignment, we could also sense the need to raise consciousness so that Spirit can fly like the proverbial reborn Sun bird. But in order to be ready to cross this threshold, from dark to light, we may need to rest and retreat into our own sacred space, to dig deep within and remove obscuration, releasing old and outworn, negative aspects of our psyche and personality.

Now, therefore, is the optimum time to assess, from this day forward, exactly what it is that we wish to be karmically responsible for. In other words, no one else is able to do our practice – we have to do the work ourselves in order to polish the most precious Dharma jewel, so Spirit naturally radiates: When the doors of perception open, infinite LoveLight shines._/♥\_

During the last quarter moon – the time astrology calls ‘a crisis of conscience’ (because our principles are called into focus), we begin to clear and prepare for the oncoming New Moon. Because of the ability to remain emotionally detached - yet profoundly engaged - this arrangement of Sun and Moon often gives the Spiritual Warrior shamanic healing abilities. The challenge now is to use this perceptive awareness wisely, so that all beings are happy.

This is why we, in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, now call upon Tara, the Great Mother Liberator, the Goddess who wants all beings to be free from suffering. The ensuing everlasting happiness Tara bestows, through the development of compassion and wisdom, we experience spiritual liberation, free from being bound to ego’s desires and aversions. From the more material point of view, honouring the Goddess can even release one from the freedom of want, hunger and fear, as well as discover the freedom of speech and worship; to experience all this is to be truly liberated.

Tomorrow’s feasting Dakini Day, 7th Jan, is most powerful for inner-work and lasting transformation, specifically by paying back karmic debts. Though the sign Scorpio is the moon in her detriment, this is actually a most perceptive moon sign when we can hone into our deepest and darkest negativities and cut-off the ego’s bind to attachment and self-grasping. Both the sharp Scorpio Moon (currently conjunct karmic Capricorn ruler, Saturn) and the accomplished Capricorn Sun are ‘Yin’ in nature, feminine and sensitive, astute and proficient. Use this personality pruning energy wisely, honour the Goddess, and prepare for the Capricorn New Moon on the 11th January; during this darkest Dakini Moon of the year, when one can free oneself from obstacles (to practice and enlightenment) and eliminate the root of ignorance.
