For those who look up to the starry firmament and wonder why the brightest light in the night sky, our beautiful Moon, is often referred to in folklore and astrological parlance as the ‘Triple Moon Goddess’, well, this is the Full Moon for you. With an ‘exalted’ and still earthy, crazy intense, Taurean Full Moon, we could quite easily experience all three Lunar archetypes to full effect, with Maiden, Mother and Crone, the three faces of the Moon Goddess shining brightly against a twinkling starry background of interlinking relationships.

In what promises to be a deeply insightful and memorable three-night Full Moon, as events, people and or situations, initially display unpredictable qualities of hungry youth; peaking with passionate and profound, practical talents from creative maturity; age-old grand-mother wisdom associated with the powerful Lunar Triad pulls up the rear.  

This Full Moon begins with youthful initiative on the 11^th, the determined but tender Moon sparking into action with unpredictable Uranus, accenting team spirit and group activities that can make this Full Moon seem initially rather random. Tending the metaphoric ‘Sacred Flame’ around hearth and home on the 12^th kindles flickers of change and excitement, as asteroid Goddess Vesta conjoins the Moon as Luna culminates, highlighting the warmth and comfort of the central Motherly hub; Luna begins to wane on the 13th, entering into the closing moon phase to become the wise old Crone, experienced in her encounters with wild-woman Medusa (with her wisdom eye open) and the mesmerising seven sisters Pleiades (making it the Full Moon to weather forecast next season, i.e. if it is mild/cold/hot/wet/dry, then so will be Winter/Summer).

☆ Plus, the usually difficult to see, mercurial messenger of the Gods and planet of communication, Mercury, also deserves a special mention right at the start of this Full Moon report, as under the growing Full Moon beams the currently Retrograde winged courier forms an extremely rare and magical alliance on the numerically powerful portal 11:11, crossing the intense Scorpio Sun, Mercury occults the Sun, suggesting a hidden message comes to light which is very much on point.  

☽ The Mysteries of the Silvery Moon ☾
 
Before going into this marvellous Mercury transit a quick recap about the Moon, generally considered Yin and feminine. Thus the receptive Moon is ‘exalted’ in sensuous Taurus, because the Moon’s kind and gentle, nurturing qualities are best expressed in the sign of the Bull. A realistic Moon in Taurus lives for love, taking care of business to live a happy mellow life with ample money and romance, food and fun. This, then, is a Moon to also make sure one is remunerated accordingly for work done and time spent. 

Tuning into nature’s rhythms also tends to be easier whenever the sensitive Moon is in earthy Taurus. Most beings, animals, children, women and some sensitive men, which can include the divinely empowered masculine function well – albeit subconsciously – within the monthly lunar cycle and its’ regular windows of opportunity. 11:11 ~> Growing Magical Moonbeams

A growing Full Moon is considered to be a most powerful and magical phase, marked by a lightness of heart and emotional confidence. With a Taurus Full Moon in the best possible sign for the grace of the Moon to glow: in sensual, earthy Taurus, Bullish desire and aspiration towards the Light of Love grows a steady pace. Though Taurus likes a sure and slow path to enjoy fields of clover, when the Moon conjuncts Uranus on the exact degree of the Moon’s 3° exaltation, on the day of the 11:11 master number (i.e. not just the best sign to be in, but the very best degree for the Moon to be in on this numerically special day) a quick and sudden change in tempo could call for swift and caring, compassion in action. 

Remember: just before the Full Moon it is often an idealistic phase; there’s an edge, as certain things are not yet fully complete. Remain open, with a willingness to work with others. Humanitarian Uranus with the Moon invites us to hold a clear image in our mind of an ethical future: one where it's no longer just a feeling inside, you but an actuality.

✰Also bear in mind that while certain personal issues – mindful finance, altruistic love and healthy body consciousness continue to increase through (digital) awareness over the coming years. And it may now actually be too soon to again try to repeat recent failed experiments or rebellions and it may be best to either wait or reassess with a new Moon January 25^th and the start of the speculative and busy year of the White Metal Rat.

✰Changes instigated Oct 28th’s New Moon may, however, now require certain moderation during this Mercury Retrograde lunation (with a note that Mercury goes forward 20^th November).  As well as finding one’s place within potentially volatile collective vacillations at a truly symbolic time.

✰ One day before the culminating Moon in Taurus, healer-trickster-brother Mercury is revealed to seen from earth (emerging from his Scorpionic Bat cave, wearing winged boots and waving his magical caduceus wand optional) to dramatically cross the Sun on November 11th 2019, which is Armistice Day, to make an extremely RARE transit of Mercury passing between Earth and Sun. This means for six hours we could (clear sky permitting) actually see this historic union of heart and mind, exactly conjunct @15:19UT.

This crossing only happens 13 times a century; the last was 2016, before that 1999; the next is 2032 – quite a while away. And with incredibly pertinent timing Mercury, planet of the mind, is with the Sun in Scorpio, in the sign of death and renewal, on the very day when we in the western world purposefully think about - and honour - all those who have died at war.

Here at Astro Dakini's Dharma Stars, we align with many others sending good thoughts to all those who gave their lives in all war, most especially the two World Wars, for peace, freedom and love to flourish.  Interestingly, from the perspective of the school of psychological astrology, this Retrograde Scorpio Mercury takes on the role of ‘psychopomp’, guiding departing souls from one world to the next with ease and agility: may all those gone beyond be at peace.

When quick thinking Mercury conjoins the Scorpio Sun, the planet of communication aligns deeply heart and mind to examine life’s sometimes difficult topics: taxes, shared ventures, sexual intimacy, as well as death and rebirth. This conjunction also denotes a special kind of insight, a sharp and precise extra-sensory perception that is able to penetrate with x-ray vision through any obscuration, to see any situation and hidden treasure clearly.

This extra-cosmic extra-sensory awareness on offer also requires a well-understood, impartial view as a starting point in any pertinent situation. And, at the exact moment of this Exalted Taurus Full Moon’s culmination, it is worthy of note that Mars is the leading planet of a locomotive shaped Full Moon horoscope, giving a seriously smooth-talker the heavenly lead to diplomatically announce proceedings.      

12:11 ~> Full Moon Culmination with Asteroid Vesta

With Asteroid Vesta, ‘Goddess of the Hearth’, kindling love and providing virtue and support in these degenerate times, she amplifies Luna’s creative fertility at culmination. This can also be a time of an intense scrutiny into health and wealth, privacy and security, in relationship, both personal and shared. 

‘The Lights‘, Sun and Moon now strengthen associations to Saturn and Pluto, the authoritative planets which have rather fittingly symbolised the current power hunger from certain people – and now the internet of things. The long-term scheme of the Saturn and Pluto in their 35-year cycle comes to a head around the January 10^th Lunar Eclipse. How we personally work with the changes to traditional structures, as they continue to transform, will depend upon how much we have learned from what might have seemed ambitious if not practical, way back when (1984).

This then, is a ‘Focus Full Moon’, and one not to rush. Whether alone, in delicious Taurean’ style at one with nature - or ensconced in one-to-one, family, or even at work within a group endeavour, during this Sun conjunct Mercury, opposite the exalted Full Taurean Moon conjunct Vesta; take time now and centre upon what we care about, and to dig deep, do our Mercury Retrograde research, and make sure we understand what we see, recognising that we are also in some way or another, an interconnected part of all life. 

At the same time, avoid indulging too much emotional introspection for fear of being unrealistically self-judgemental.  Instead, be aware how Vesta brings added stability to a Taurean and sensually charged Mother Goddess hub. She shows how family devotion ought not to alienate personal needs for intimacy and comfort. 

13:11 ~> Planning a Bull’s Eye

The third and final night of this Full Moon sees Luna look up from a cosy nest, ahead into the future, creating strategies with a clear view of our aims. Without getting attached to outcomes, Venus, the ruler of Taurus in freedom-loving Sagittarius, teaches love is not a feeling to be trapped or bound. Because when we feel expansive we are more likely to hit targets, be inspired, and endure difficulties with philosophical optimism. Just make sure your view is correct, and that you’re not totally operating from a purely self-centred point-of-view, otherwise you may just find your world is very small; indeed it may not even exist how you imagined.

This therapeutic Goddess of hygiene and cleanliness is currently urging us to clean-up the way we problem-solve, as well as how we communicate within our community. And so this Moon cycle closes with a message of truth and freedom, and how the healing magic even stronger when love radiates in all directions.

Set the altruistic intention firmly into place and generate the cosmic love vibration to the max, for a wildly exciting and dynamic Full Moon – one that breaks all the usual rules and sets your heart racing, as a vision of the future, bright, shiny and new, becomes clear – even as some influences dramatically hail from out-of-the-blue (people or ideas). Because this is one of the year’s most dramatic and intense, forward-thinking Full Moons in which Sun and Moon are part of a determined ‘Grand Fixed Cross’, a formation that tests commitment and resolve, ideas, as well as relationships. And because the Sun is with Love Goddess Venus, when looking to create positive change that benefits everyone – not just those we intimately love and care for, be ready for a strong blast of all-consuming Love Light. The source of such warmth and brilliance could be anyone’s guess – such is the unpredictability of events and emotions surrounding this Full Moon, which could also mark make or break moments.

Grand Crosses are mighty powerful at the best of times, let alone one that involves Venus Retrograde (Rx) with the secretive Scorpio, conjunct Spirit Sun, which are thus both opposite an exalted Taurus Full Moon, next to an open-minded astral wild-child, Uranus. Hopefully Luna’s elevated Taurean influence, as the Moon in the sign of the Bull is the best possible place to be, is to slow-down, smooth and temper the zappy and jagged Uranian pace. These four planets then form a tight Square to form the Cross with fellow Fixed signs, Leo and Aquarius, along the karmic nodal axis, pulling memories from the collective past, and thrusting them into the creative personal play pen. 

Esoteric Astrology calls all this fixity ‘The Cross of Right Direction’, as it is a powerful ‘Cross of Transformation’, leading from selfishness to selflessness. It’s not an easy Cross to bear in many ways. As the Fixed Cross implies having to go through a massive process of renewal by releasing desires, fears (of the wild mind) and every shred of all old and outworn obsessions, which is quite a tall order, but in no means impossible, as long as one remains open-minded and aware of the importance of emancipating oneself from mental slavery. 

In order to achieve the required selflessness, however, one paradoxically also needs to learn to love and value oneself. Because if you can’t love yourself, then who can you love? Which leads me to the current Venus retrograde question: can you even love those dark demons which are currently trying to hide and set up home in shadowy psychic spaces? Acknowledging how we humans have difficult emotions that often desperately need subjugating, the Scorpio Sun and Venus propose indulging a deep love of psychology and analysis. But the Moon with Uranus also highlights flashes of insight and quicker ways to deal with immediately recognised issues, purely by consciously applying the appropriate emotional antidotes that swiftly impact upon and pacify jealousy, rage, obsession or depression: all of which can actually be quite emotionally liberating. Taking either the slow path of depth psychology or the speedy application of mind-training, both methods are good. One is a means of understanding ‘why’ and the other a technique of ‘how’ to be in control. Really, what we all need are tools to there are very few who can say that they have conquered themselves and have truly renounced desire or aversion.

So, what to do if envy and fixation dog dreams or the waking mind? Firstly, among the most important ways of staying on centre is to not compare oneself to anyone – in any circumstance. When looking around at where you are now, remember that lovely saying ‘Be Yourself. Everyone else is taken’. Secondly, to overcome jealousy or obsession, as hard as it may be, make an effort to be happy if faced with situations that make you wonder why someone else should have all the luck, and not you. Seriously, learn to trust your feelings and muster up all your inside goodness and be joyful for others whose karma has ripened. Recognise how karma works in mysterious ways. And know that the more you are joyful for others (even if its an ex having a good time), the more you are happy within your own mind. Remember there are always remedies to help. When feeling angry, for instance exercise patience; if desirous exercise gratitude (for all you already have) and practice non-attachment. And for addictions (of any kind) now is a good time to reach out to connect with others who can help support the process of releasing toxins pain or suffering within a pleasant and caring environment. Those who can engender a team spirit that alleviates the feeling of isolation are probably closer than you think. 

While a change is often as good as a rest, Spirit Sun with the retrograde Venus tends to cover old ground in order to seek fairness, for the physical body, as well as in relationship. Giving value to all everyone does is paramount when the Sun is with Venus. This often means dealing with old issues, specifically those which came up nine months ago, or even 8 years ago. Old relationships could suddenly reappear, or issues that repeat themselves in your life, as well as the pertinent information that clarifies agreements. Check planets around the early degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius and see where this Cross of Transformation lies and where you are cosmically bound to make dramatic change to free the heartmind and liberate your soul. Just to clarify: this Full Moon is a time to be open and clear, not tear yourself into shred or criticise yourself or others. In other words, to gain more clarity, do more of what makes you happy and less of what stresses you out, because that only clouds your emotions.

Bear in mind how Venus is also the planet of Air and Wind. Indeed, Venus even finishes her retrograde in the Air Sign Libra, at the next Full Moon (23^rd November, the day before Mercury goes retrograde in Sagittarius!). Consciously breathing through difficult situations is incredibly energizing, with long, slow breaths that calm and pacify the internal mind. Remember how breath is mind’s vehicle to Spirit. Be aware how we are all incredibly sensitive beings, some more than others, but each with his or her own electromagnetic subtle energies coursing through the psychic and emotional body. Breathing into tension and spaces through visualisation and exercise helps to release emotional blocks and memories which get stuck in the physical body too. The ensuing lightness of heart also makes it easier to feel enthusiastic about the future, however tough it looks like when reading a newspaper. From the astrological and elemental points of view the Taurus Full Moon on Saturday 4th November, @5:23UT, is Fixed Earth: tenacious, solid and strong. Please bear these simple but practical qualities in mind, because setting the astrological tone and holding sway over of this exalted Moon, in the sign of the earthy Bull, is the intense and complex, dramatic Scorpio Sun, as ‘Fixed Water’. Thus the powerful and intuitive water sign Scorpio now benefits from the stable Taurean influence, as Earth and Water can be extremely fertile: anchored in mud’s murky depths (Scorpio) the beautiful lotus can surely grow and flourish (Taurus). Earth also provides a container for Water’s acute sensitivity.

✶The robust Taurus tends towards a laid-back simple life, one that provides sufficient cuddles, finances, and food in the kitchen. A fine French wine may be a Bull’s prized possession; whereas Scorpio can seduce and share said vintage and transport both parties to discover previously hidden depths of the psyche. Scorpio may be shadowy and mysterious, but the 8th sign of the zodiac is also profound and perceptive, with an inexhaustible, deep well of concealed resources. This passionate sign of intimacy, secrets, shared assets and penetrative insights, doesn’t give up his or her secrets – or the Cabernet Sauvignon so easily: unless you are dealing with a the higher-minded Scorpionic clairvoyant, the one with x-ray vision who works an inner-wisdom that does not suffer fools too long, one generally needs to earn Scorpio’s trust.

Scorpio tends to wield the enigmatic with provocative control and a sexy sixth-sense precision to maintain a power base that brims with magical potential. And there is great astral news for Scorpio (and Taurus –and possibly other fixed signs Leo & Aquarius) to bring that potential into reality, as this is the only Full Moon in the Fire Bird year in which the Spirit of the Sun conjoins beneficent Jupiter, only recently moved into magnetic Scorpio. The celestial courier, Mercury, is also in Scorpio, albeit in late degrees, honing an eagle eye that could help one to seek and seize opportunities for growth and success, by concentrating the mind with Taurean determination and Scorpionic intensity.

Apart from the extreme nature of Scorpio accenting life, death and rebirth (easy on that red wine now, please), it is the starry blend of Sun and Jupiter when good things are cosmically bound to happen. Some might call it ‘luck’, but the Sun-Jupiter is a most astrologically preferred combination that nearly always represents good fortune and excellent timing. And, if whatever ‘it’ is that you have in mind when reading this comes into being, then give thanks; if not, Jupiter’s influence means it will be easy to be philosophical, keep spirits up, and move on: such is the nature of the sparkling duo, Sun-Jupiter. Incidentally, while this is the Full Moon exuding the most Jupitarian optimism, the exact hit of the glorious Sun-Jupiter Jupiter has actually already passed, since 26th October, with the waxing first quarter Moon, a traditional time of action; so some of you may already have experienced a boost to your system in one form or another (check your scope for 1-6°Scorpio to see how, what and where), which could have already been shared with the close and trusted, so that celebratory bottle may already be recycled. Events may still seem slightly exaggerated. In any event the Sun radiating with expansive, happy-go-lucky Jupiter gives a definite sense of hope, and situations surrounding this Full Moon could actually shed more than a little happiness – at the very least this Full Moon should show there is light at the end of the tunnel.

✶Most people want to better themselves and going up a notch, in status or self-esteem, is common whenever the radiant Sun is with generous Jupiter – as is taking risks due to the belief that one’s view is true. Indeed, the Full Moon in the sign of Taurus accents how much we value our self-worth. But we must also be careful not to become prisoners of our own desires. At the time of this Full Moon, the Scorpio Sun also aligns with two fixed stars: one is Alphecca in ‘Corona Borealis’ which suggests a crown is given – a reward or prize for being in the right place at the right time. But such nobility and dignity come not without a price. There is no such thing as a free lunch, it would seem – even when the Full Moon is in the sign of foodie-loving Taurus. As the Sun is also with a minor fixed star, Acrux, it implies that along with any rise, award, or bonus given right now, one must be realistic about what one can achieve purely through luck or love, charm or good looks, and be prepared to work at going through whatever life presents, good or bad. That said, while Acrux may present a cross to carry, the ancients saw the brighter star, Alphecca, as a precious jewel in a garland worn with honour and artistic ability, so much so that scandals that arise now may not even affect the subject’s status or standing.

This Full Taurus Moon is also exalted, meaning it is in the best possible sign to experience the stability and security found with the easily attainable: good food, happy company and pleasant surroundings can provide ample comfort and joy over this Full Moon weekend, as well as a time and place for planning one’s next success. Because this Full Moon also has the backing of arch-tactician, asteroid Pallas Athena – at the degree of the Moon’s exaltation, plotting future moves around the dining table may well be the making of something a lot more solid.

Both ‘Lights’, Sun and Moon, also make helpful aspects to outer planets, Neptune and Pluto, accenting transformative connections to our soul groups, as well as the legacy each generation leaves behind for those to come. Neptune in Pisces takes us into the oceanic realms of illusion and delusion, emptiness and bliss, compassion and charitable institutions (so that if anyone has one glass too many under full moonbeams, it will be easy to forgive if not forget). Pluto is Scorpio’s hard-hitting modern ruler who never overlooks anything, however; and Mars is Scorpio’s traditional ruler; so it’s good to note how Mars is now in his fall in Libra, and as such is on rear guard, softening negotiation but still driving the Full Moon horoscope’s locomotive formation with sweetly pushy and beguiling. It might also be worth noting here that in three decades of astrological study I have come to the conclusion that Pluto dominates those Scorpios who live and work for others (through altruism, diviners, and trauma professions: surgeons, psychology, undertakers, solicitors, detectives, police, chemists, researchers; miners, business people, architects, chimney sweeps and sewer workers also fall into Scorpio professions), while Mars generally has ambitions to be heroic with (someone else’s) cause to fight (soldiers, stock market, lawyers).

✶ Plutonic Scorpios are also acutely aware of the dark side; they inherently know that personal power corrupts but the non-ego-bound energy sustains. Battles waged can also be against Scorpio’s own demons. But one thing is certain during this Full Moon: it is the powerful planet Pluto which makes the most promising contacts to Sun and Moon, meaning we all get to play a part in a dramatic transformation that leads, eventually, to an all-or-nothing regeneration: in this we can think of own our part in holding course to maintain healthy water, for example (drink fresh, blessed and pure), and know that what we do now impacts upon at least seven generations to come.

✶ Psychic sensitivity is also heightened by any planet in Scorpio. And with Jupiter’s move into (tropical) Scorpio we can all expand more easily in this area over the coming year (until November 2018) should we want to touch base with intuition, or subtle body bio-energy, this is the year to do so. Scorpionic issues such as transforming our position on death, sex, taxes, will also be brought into our attention; sometimes by first being dragged through the mud before reaching the light.

✶ Those looking for answers, clues or messages from the unseen, as in the dream-world or intuition, won’t be disappointed. Though the message itself might seem rather cut and dried, mundane and plain, without any ‘spiritual’ frills, but still one should take note, as these are very insights that hone the way the mind perceives the world of the unseen and the subtle body energies. Some messages will have all-singing all-dancing bells ringing to awaken sky dancers into action. But mostly, over this Moon, intuition could seem rather prosaic.

✶Looking ahead, beyond the encouraging New Scorpio Moon 18th November, to the December 3rd Full Sagittarian SuperMoon, when Jupiter makes a Trine (120°) to Neptune. The Full Moon after this is almost celestially designed, if not on the path already, to open your heartmind to daily spiritual practice, whatever that may be: meditation, yoga, dance, music, prayer, mindfulness, all can deepen naturally. With Jupiter in good aspect to oceanic Neptune there will be no need to push, but to restez-zen in one’s flow.
